Blue British Police Call Box

$ 75.00

It’s not what you think it is! This is actually my hand-painted interpretation of the Mackenzie Trench Police Box — the real-life design that inspired a certain famous television prop. Designed by Gilbert Mackenzie Trench for the Metropolitan Police Service in 1929, these iconic blue kiosks once stood on the streets of London, used as a direct line to the local station. I’ve captured the distinctive details of the original design — the tiered pyramidal roof with its domed light, the mullioned windows with blue-tinted lower panes, the telephone hatch, and the first aid door at the base. I’ve taken a little poetic licence here and there to suit the bottle, but the spirit of the original is very much alive in every detail. With fewer than 1,000 ever installed and nearly all now gone, these boxes are already a rare piece of British history — and this small hand-painted one-of-a-kind bottle lamp shining its beautiful blue glow, is rarer still.
