Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Display: Hang or display your glass art where natural or ambient light can pass through it to showcase the translucent colors. Avoid placing in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations or high humidity (such as bathrooms).
Cleaning: Wipe with a soft, dry or damp cloth only. Do not soak or scrub. Do not use chemical cleaners, glass cleaners, or abrasives, as these can damage the painted surface. Do not immerse in water.
Handling: Always handle by the edges or frame. Avoid touching the painted surface directly, as oils from your hands can leave marks.
Storage: Some pieces are created with thick layers of paint to create a textured look. It is a normal property of this paint to be soft; this will harden over time but may always have some give to the paint. To store, wrap and pack carefully as you would for any breakable glass item. When wrapping or storing, ensure that hard or sharp objects do not press heavily onto the painted surface.
Indoor Use Only: Your painted glass art is intended for regular indoor use only and may be damaged if used outside for more than a short temporary period.
Your painting is a one-of-a-kind piece created with professional-grade paints on canvas or cradleboard and finished with a protective varnish or resin topcoat to preserve its beauty.
Display: Hang your artwork away from direct sunlight, as prolonged UV exposure can cause colors to fade over time. Avoid placing near heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, or heating vents, as extreme temperature changes can damage the protective coating.
Cleaning: Dust gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or feather duster as needed. For pieces with a resin topcoat, you may wipe with a slightly damp cloth if necessary, then immediately dry with a soft cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners, glass cleaners, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the protective finish.
Handling: Always handle your artwork by the edges or frame. Avoid touching the painted surface, as oils from your hands can leave marks over time.
Storage: If you need to store your artwork, wrap it in acid-free tissue paper or glassine paper, then place in a flat, dry location away from extreme temperatures and humidity. Do not lean heavy objects against the painted surface.
Environmental Conditions: Display in a climate-controlled environment when possible. Avoid areas with high humidity (such as bathrooms) or extreme temperature fluctuations, as these can affect the longevity of both the paint and protective coating.
To ensure the longevity and beauty of your art lamp, please follow these care instructions.
Cleaning: Wipe with a soft, dry or damp cloth only. Do not soak or scrub. Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasives. Do not immerse in water.
Indoor Use Only: Your lamp is intended for regular indoor use only and may be damaged if used outside for more than a short temporary period.
Storage: Improper care can cause damage to the painted surface of your lamp. Care should be taken to wrap and pack carefully as you would for any breakable item. Dimensional style lamps have additional care instructions below. Remember to remove batteries from battery-operated lamps before long term storage.
Dimensional Paint Style: Some lamps are created with thick layers of paint. It is a normal property of this acrylic paint to be soft; this will harden over time but may always have some give to the paint. When wrapping, ensure that no hard objects press into the paint, as this may cause damage. Make sure that the light plug (or any other hard or sharp object) does not press heavily onto the surface of the paint. Wrap the plug well in bubble wrap or other packaging that will shield the hard edges from the lamp. Do not store with heavy or sharp objects resting on top of the lamp. For long term storage, remove batteries (if battery powered) and wrap the light plug or base separately to prevent it from pressing against the painted surface.
Your handmade piece of wearable art is one of a kind. While it is made with care and attention using quality materials, it is not indestructible. Follow these suggestions to ensure the longevity and lasting beauty of your jewelry.
Daily Wear: Jewelry should be the last thing you put on as you prepare for the day and the first thing you remove at night. I recommend wiping down your jewelry before storing it to remove any dirt and oils.
Avoid Contact With:
- Personal care products like moisturizer, perfume, and hair spray, as these can make a piece look cloudy or dirty
- Household chemicals and cleaning products
- Salt water, chlorine, and pool or hot tub chemicals (these can damage even gold jewelry)
Water Exposure: While your jewelry may be water resistant or even waterproof, you should still remove it before swimming or bathing. Water chemicals can cause damage over time.
Cleaning: Avoid jewelry cleaning chemicals, as they might not be safe for all the materials in your handmade piece. The safest way to clean your jewelry is to wipe with a soft, damp cloth. You can add a small amount of mild detergent (such as Dawn) if needed. Rinse with clear, cool water and immediately pat dry with a soft, dry cloth. Do not soak or scrub. Items with resin should not be exposed to rubbing alcohol, as it will damage the protective surface.
LED Mini Lights: Ready-to-use LED string lights are inserted inside the lamp through a hole in the back of the bottle and can easily be replaced as needed. The plug is USB only (with on/off toggle switch) and will fit any USB outlet/plug. You will need a standard USB wall adapter to plug into a wall socket, or you can plug into a USB power bank.
To replace: Remove slowly from the back of the bottle. As with any light, use caution. Do not plug in if the cord becomes damaged.
USB Plug Wooden Bases: These detachable bases contain a single LED light inset to illuminate the lamp from below. The plug is USB (with on/off toggle switch) and will fit any USB outlet/plug. You will need a standard USB wall adapter to plug into a wall socket, or you can plug into a USB power bank. If the LED light stops working contact me for advice on a replacement.
Safety note: Per manufacturer instructions, do not leave the light on unattended. The light may get warm with prolonged use, especially in warm climates or near heat sources. As with any light, use caution. Do not plug in if the cord becomes damaged.
Battery Cork Stopper Lights: These lights operate with 3 LR44 batteries (included) and have an on/off switch on the cork top for easy control. The manufacturer states they will provide 52 continuous hours of light per set of batteries.
To replace batteries: Unscrew the screw on the battery cover, remove the cover, and access the battery compartment.
Older Style String Lights (No Longer Used): If you have a lamp with older incandescent string lights, these are removable but should be replaced with newer USB-style LED mini lights when needed.
To remove: Slowly pull out each bulb one at a time from the back of the bottle, being careful not to pull hard on the lights.
Safety note: Per manufacturer instructions, do not leave the light on unattended. The bottle may get warm with prolonged use, especially in warm climates or near heat sources. We do not recommend these lights be left unattended with children. If replacing, do not use more than 10-count incandescent or 20-count LED strings. I strongly recommend switching to USB-style mini lights, which are now readily available and safer.
To ensure the longevity and beauty of your candle holder, please follow these care instructions.
Cleaning: Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not soak or scrub. Do not use chemical cleaners or immerse in water.
Storage: Some candle holders are created with thick layers of paint to create a textured look. It is a normal property of this paint to be soft; this will harden over time but may always have some give to the paint. To store, wrap and pack carefully as you would for any breakable item. When wrapping or storing, ensure that hard or sharp objects do not press heavily onto the painted surface.
Tip: I recommend using only tea light candles, as these do not leave wax in the base of the holder.
Appropriate care should be taken to ensure longevity and beauty of this one of a kind handmade Art on Glass. Gentle hand wash only is advised. Soaking, scrubbing, chemical cleaners & dishwashers are NOT recommended. Not microwave safe.
Community & Charitable Requests
I’m deeply committed to supporting causes I care about, and I regularly donate both my work and my time to selected local charities and community initiatives each year. However, I receive far more requests than I could ever fulfill — often from individuals or groups unfamiliar with my work, my location, or even my name.
As a one-person business creating one-of-a-kind, hand-painted art, I have to be extremely selective. I choose to donate to organizations I personally support and have an ongoing relationship with — typically registered nonprofits that align with my values and focus on community.
This isn’t to say your cause isn’t worthy — in fact, there’s a good chance I value it deeply. The reality is, there are far more important causes than I could ever afford to support. I already donate to a number of organizations I’ve chosen because I believe in their mission. I wish I could contribute to every cause I care about, but as an independent artist, that simply isn’t possible.
I choose to donate where there’s a genuine connection — where I know the organization, support the mission, and feel confident that my contribution is truly appreciated and will be useful.
I understand and respect the effort it takes to run a fundraiser and the importance of charitable work — but unfortunately, I cannot accommodate unsolicited donation requests.
Custom Orders & Events
The custom order process can be quite time consuming as it requires a lot of communication and design work before the painting can even begin. Therefore I only offer custom orders some of the time as my schedule permits. You can check my design suggestion page or contact me to find out when I may be able to create a custom piece for you.
Yes, I can create custom orders for events. While I don’t offer standard discounts, I’d be happy to discuss options for larger orders.
- Initial Consultation: The customer shares their desired design and the preferred size of the bottle.
- Pricing Information: I provide the cost estimate for the project.
- Deposit Requirement: To proceed, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This covers the commencement of design work.
- Design Mock-up and Specifications: I create and share a description and/or mock-up of the intended design, clarifying colors and other specifications.
- Customer Approval: The customer must approve the design. Once agreed upon, changes may incur additional costs.
- Commencement of Work: Upon design approval, the painting process begins.
- Final Approval and Balance Payment: After completion, photos are sent to the customer for final approval. The remaining balance is then due.
- Collection or Shipping: The project is ready for collection or shipping. Shipping fees, calculated based on size, weight, and destination, are separate from the design quote and must be paid along with the balance for the design before dispatch.
- Third-Party Designs and Logos: If the design includes logos or images owned by third parties, I must receive written permission from the rights holder. The customer must arrange for permission to be provided prior to the design stage commencing. The customer is also responsible for providing a clear copy of any design element they wish to incorporate. Note that some designs may not be replicable due to painting method limitations. I am not able to incorporate any copyright or trademark elements without permission.
- Timeline and Customer Responsiveness: Custom designs may take up to 4 weeks to complete after design approval. Timely response from the customer to design options and sign-offs is crucial for maintaining the project timeline.
Thank you for your interest in my custom lamps. I must clarify that I do not create lamps featuring licensed characters, trademarks, or copyrighted images. This includes popular cartoon characters, sports logos, and similar intellectual property.
While I understand there are makers who replicate such designs, it’s important to respect copyright laws and the rights of intellectual property owners. My commitment to legal and ethical practices means I choose not to take this risk, regardless of the practices of others. I appreciate your understanding.
Ordering & Shopping
Yes, the lights are easily replaceable. Instructions for replacement are included with your purchase.
Yes, the lights are plug-in by default, but you have flexible options:
You can easily swap them for battery-operated lights—just remove the existing strand and replace it with any battery-powered set. Alternatively, you can use a rechargeable USB power bank to make the included lights portable without needing to buy new lights or replace batteries.
I do not have a physical store for showcasing my products. My products are showcased at approximately three annual shows for in-person shopping during the year.
However, my work is accessible the remainder of the time online through my own website, www.mirandajordan.ca which features a comprehensive online shop.
I frequently update my social media with photos and videos of my products, but they tend to sell quickly so what is shown on my social pages may not be available. To see all currently available items, it’s best to check my website directly, if an item is in my website shop, and the “add to cart” button is shown, it is available to purchase.
My website store accepts credit and debit payments via Stripe, a secure online payment processor. However, for those who prefer eTransfer can be arranged with me directly prior to purchase.
Shipping is available worldwide, and for those in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, free local pickup is an option. For local pick up, I package the items and deliver them to a gift store in Cole Harbour, my designated collection point. Customers are notified when their order is ready and can pick up their order during the store’s regular hours without needing an appointment.
Products & Techniques
I constantly receive countless messages—often outright demands—asking me to explain exactly how I create my art: what paints I use, how I apply them, what tools I use, and so on. In most cases, the people asking aren’t simply curious—they’re looking to copy my work.
My painting technique is something I’ve developed over decades through extensive trial and error. It’s the result of thousands of hours of experimentation, refinement, and professional experience. Like many working artists, I don’t give away the specifics of my process—especially to those who are also selling their work.
Professional artists either invest the time to develop their own methods, or they pay a master artist for their knowledge and experience. They don’t expect to be taught for free. That’s part of the respect we owe each other in this field.
Imagine how much time I’d lose if I stopped working every day to explain my process to everyone who asked. This isn’t a hobby—it’s my full-time job. And like any job, I need time to actually do the work in order to earn a living. You wouldn’t walk into someone else’s workplace and expect them to stop what they’re doing to train you—and the same applies here.
That said, I do occasionally offer workshops and classes where I teach specific techniques in a structured setting. If you’re genuinely interested in learning from me, you’re welcome to check out my Workshops page for upcoming sessions.
Lastly, please remember: copying another artist’s designs is never okay. I encourage you to explore, experiment, and find your own voice—it’s a far more rewarding journey.
The time required to paint each lamp can vary greatly, depending on factors like the size, design complexity, and notably, the weight of the bottle. Heavier bottles necessitate more frequent rest breaks to prevent strain on my wrist. This means I need to set them down more often during the painting process, which can extend the overall time needed.
Although I have attempted to track the time spent on individual lamps, the multi-layered process and varying nature of each piece make it challenging to provide a precise duration. However, I can assure you that even the smallest lamps take several hours to complete, while the larger ones, due to their complexity and weight, demand an even greater investment of time and effort.
Every lamp I make is a labor of love, requiring significant time and attention to detail to ensure the highest quality and uniqueness of each piece.
A complete section on my website is dedicated to care instructions for my hand crafted items. You can find it at https://mirandajordan.ca/care/
Over the years, I’ve experimented with a large variety of paints to find what works best for me. I believe that part of the journey in any creative endeavor is discovering the tools and materials that resonate with you personally. As my choice of materials varies widely, I don’t specifically endorse any brands or products. I believe every artist has their own unique tastes and preferences.
If you’re asking because you’re inspired to create art in a style similar to mine I encourage you to explore and find the paints that best suit your style and needs. It’s your unique touch and practice that truly brings your art to life, not the paint you use. Happy painting and exploring!
Sales & Business Policies
Each piece I make is a carefully handcrafted, original painting, requiring significant time and dedication. This intensive process limits my production capacity, allowing me to create only a certain number of pieces each year. Nothing I make can be mass produced. Considering the additional practical aspects like insurance for breakage or theft, a well as shipping logistics, I only sell my pieces directly to my customers. I find this direct approach more aligned with my business goals and the care I wish to maintain for my artwork, while also allowing me to maintain a personal connection with my audience. Therefore I do not place work in stores on consignment.
Each piece I make is a carefully handcrafted, original painting, requiring significant time and dedication. This intensive process limits my production capacity, allowing me to create only a certain number of pieces each year. Nothing I make can be mass produced.
Given these constraints and the individual artistic value of each item, I am unable to offer my work at traditional wholesale prices. My approach is to sell directly to the public, ensuring the integrity and value of each piece.
However, I understand the desire to feature unique, handcrafted items in your store. While I cannot provide a wholesale discount, you are welcome to purchase my pieces at the retail price listed and resell at a price you determine.
While you may purchase my work for resale, it’s essential that the integrity and original branding of my products are maintained. This means that my work cannot be rebranded or sold under a different name, and my name must remain associated with the products.
Returns are accepted on non custom and non sale items only. Contact me within: 3 days of delivery. Dispatch items back within: 7 days of delivery.

- Custom or personalised orders
- Items on sale
Shipping, Packing and Order Collection
For most international destinations: Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply to their order. These fees, if applicable are typically charged directly to you upon delivery and are separate from shipping costs. I am not responsible for delays due to customs.
For USA orders: Due to new USA import regulations, certain duties and tariffs must now be paid upfront before shipping rather than upon delivery. If these fees apply to your order, I will contact you with the amount, which must be paid before your order ships. If you refuse to pay required upfront fees, your order will be cancelled with a 25% restocking fee applied to the refund.
Local pick up: Orders placed on or after December 20th will not be available for pick up before Christmas. Regular availability for local pick up will resume on December 27th.
Shipping: Orders placed on or after December 20th will not be shipped prior to Christmas. Regular shipping times will resume on December 27th.
If you’re planning to ship one of my lamps—or any fragile item—I’ve put together a step-by-step guide based on the method I’ve used successfully for years.
Check out my How to Safely Pack a Fragile Item for Shipping page for all the details.
Local pickup is available to customers in Nova Scotia. If you select “Local pickup” at checkout, I’ll prepare your order for collection at a designated pickup location in Cole Harbour.
What happens after you order
You’ll receive two emails:
- Order confirmation (automatic) — this confirms your order was received, but does not include pickup details.
- Pickup notification (from me) — sent within 24–72 hours (up to 3 business days). This email includes the pickup location name, address, and business hours, plus what to do when you arrive.
Important notes
- Local pickup is intended for customers who are able to collect in Nova Scotia. If local pickup is selected but collection isn’t possible, shipping can be arranged before fulfillment at an additional cost (confirmed with you in advance).
- Into the Mystic (1082 Cole Harbour Road, Cole Harbour) is my pickup location for local orders. The store does not sell or display my work – it is a pickup location only for orders placed through my website.
- Please collect your order within 7 days of the pickup notification unless other arrangements are confirmed in advance.
- If you can’t collect within that timeframe, contact me — I’m happy to help with alternate arrangements.
Questions? Please reach out anytime.
My site can calculate shipping costs internationally in the shopping cart. Once you enter your shipping address, shipping costs will be displayed. If you have any questions about international shipping options, please contact me.
USA Shipping – Important Notice: Due to new USA import regulations, certain duties and tariffs must now be collected by the shipper at the time of shipping rather than upon delivery. My site cannot calculate these fees automatically. If these upfront fees apply to your order, I will contact you before shipping with the exact amount. These fees must be paid before your order can be shipped.
Your Responsibility: It is your responsibility to understand your country’s import laws and duty requirements. If you place an order to the USA and then refuse to pay the required upfront fees, your order will be cancelled and a refund will be issued minus a 25% restocking fee to cover my costs.
Note: For other international destinations, any import duties or taxes are typically charged directly to you upon delivery and are separate from the shipping costs calculated at checkout.
Shipped orders are packed with care and shipped using services that include coverage while in transit. I select the most appropriate carrier for each order based on destination, value, and service availability.
If an order is lost or damaged during shipping, please contact me as soon as possible so I can assist with the next steps.
In the event of loss or damage, the shipping carrier may require photos of the packaging and contents, and in some cases the original packaging may need to be retained until the claim is resolved.
PO Box deliveries (Canada Post)
If a PO Box address is provided, the order must be shipped via Canada Post, as courier services cannot deliver to PO boxes.
Please note that Canada Post does not offer damage coverage for fragile items such as glass. While lost packages may be covered, damage to fragile contents is excluded under their terms.
If damage protection is important to you, please consider using a non–PO Box address so that alternative carriers can be used where available.
In order to calculate shipping fees it requires three things.
1. Item weight
2. Package size.
3. Destination.
Because each items is unique the size and weight of each item will vary. Therefore in order to calculate the cost of shipping for an item please simply add it to your cart and enter your postal/zip code. The site can then calculate the shipping rate.
When smaller items are added to a larger order, the total shipping rate may not be accurate. The shipping calculator does not know if items can be shipped together therefore it calculates items for individual shipping. If for example multiple items can ship in the same box, this will reduce the actual shipping charge. In any instance where I can reduce shipping costs you will always be refunded any postage overage. Please contact me if you have any questions about shipping.
Local pickup does not include shipping and requires in-person collection in Nova Scotia after confirmation.
Shipping Update (as of May 2025)
Due to ongoing disruptions and repeated strikes at Canada Post, I have permanently switched to alternative delivery services for all orders placed through my website.
What this means:
- I will still ship worldwide, just not through Canada Post by default.
- I now use multiple carriers, selecting the best option based on price and service availability at the time of shipping.
- PO box delivery is no longer available by default due to this change.
PO Box Shipping: If you need shipping to a PO box, I can ship via Canada Post as long as they are not on strike at the time of shipping. Please note that any Canada Post delays are beyond my control.
No extra cost to you: The alternative shipping services are reliable and comparably priced. As always, I also cover the cost of shipping and packing materials (boxes, wrapping, packing). This change is about ensuring you receive your orders safely and without delay—I can no longer rely on Canada Post as I have in the past.
Thanks for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Delivery time primarily depends on the shipping option you choose and the destination. I strive to pack and ship all paid orders as quickly as possible. For in-stock items, this is usually within three business days unless customisation or unforeseen circumstances cause a delay. If there’s an unexpected delay on my end, I’ll notify you promptly. Otherwise, you can expect a shipping notification within three business days of completing your order. Once your package is handed over to the shipping carrier, the delivery process is entirely managed by them, and I have no control over the delivery timeline.
Local pickup orders are prepared specifically for collection and held for a limited time. If an order is not collected within 7 days of the pickup notification and I don’t hear from you, the order may be cancelled.
In these cases, a 25% restocking fee may be applied to the refund to help cover preparation and handling time.
If you’re unable to collect within that timeframe, please get in touch — I’m always happy to work out an alternative, including shipping where possible.
Sale items: Because sale items are offered at a reduced price, they are non-refundable. If collection or shipping is not arranged within 30 days, the item may be donated to charity.
